What a lot of cloudy damp days we've had. At least the end of the month has been much brighter so we can enjoy longer days. Lapwings and Oystercatchers are returning to the fields and the ducks are displaying to each other. Thanks to John we had a good session with Long Tailed Ducks at St. Andrews (below). Today we enjoyed Crossbills, 12 male Black Grouse and an obliging Dipper.
Had an opportunity to present a dead Woodpigeon to a Buzzard. I uploaded the result on YouTube. You can find it here.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFca8EejMlk
The Woodland Hide is surviving the winter. The Woodpecker family are glad of that. Both adult male, female and young male and female visit - sometimes up to three together. Jay visits are few so are treasured. The picture below was taken earlier in the winter when the woodland temperature was -12 centigrade.
