We are not long back from a short trip to northern Norway. The purpose was to photograph the northern ducks then a few forest birds which are rare or absent in our home country. You can see more on the trips page. Our memories of the birds are, for once, eclipsed by two other events. The first was the opportunity to go dog sledding. We each had a turn to drive our team of five dogs whilst the other lay on the sledge. It was thrilling to be the driver, a bit of a passive experience on the sledge. The other first was the aurora. We saw this on two nights and we were able to get pictures. At a temperature of minus 20C each session was brief but very pleasing. |
