A recent warmer, sunny day gave hope that it was nearly summer! We set off north and found a few Wood Warblers who would give us bursts of their lovely song then lead us a merry chase through the Birch trees to follow them. Another spot was sheltered from the breeze and Pearl Bordered Fritillary butterflies were flying around feeding on the Dandelion flowers. Spotted Flycatchers are here showing their skills at catching flies and the first Redstarts are flitting round the trees. Hopefully we'll soon have the first dragonflies of the season. |
