The tip off from a friend that a local hill was frequented by some 'friendly' Ravens was enough to tempt us up. He had warned us that the climb had a steep start, but not that it was a steep hike the whole way up! We made it to the summit though, noticing that we were managing a similar pace to others climbing despite being twice their age and carrying our heavy camera kit! making us feel slightly better. We saw very few birds on the way up, and none when we initially reached the top. But after about 20 mins of 'why did we do this?' some Ravens did indeed fly over to investigate. They were very entertaining, calling and checking around for scraps, then obligingly came down quite close to us. |
