While in Galashiels for Christmas we managed a walk near the river and had lovely views of two Nuthatches, which was only the second sighting this year.
Back home and we managed a day out yesterday - our first for a few weeks - exploring the Angus coast and found this Twite with a small flock of friends. The colour rings spoil the picture somewhat, but still nice to see, as it was most likely the last new bird of this year.
Changes that are gradual are most difficult to spot. When we started our birdwatching, Kestrel was the commonest bird of prey. On our drive to the Twite location we saw more than ten buzzards but no other bird of prey. Compliments of the season.
