We are not long back from spending a week at a cottage close to the Solway. Naturally, we saw and photographed many geese and ducks. That said, the weather was cold with snow often underfoot and not melting since the overnight temperatures plummeted each night. The resulting icy conditions were challenging for the wildfowl which congregated around the ice-free spots. Its always the wildlife surprises that bring the greatest joy. Whilst we were in a bird hide a fox appeared and came to drink close to where we were. Clearly it could not smell us so we got great views. |
