The other falcon is Merlin - my longest project, now; five years. Tomorrow we check on, and refurbish the hide, covering it with fresh heather ready for another breeding season. Of course the Merlin does not choose the same site each year. The hide is placed by an area that it will still frequent. At least that's the plan.
Earlier in the week we had a very exciting day with a rogue capercaillie. It strutted its stuff for us so we backed off and enjoyed a more sedate pace for all concerned. A deeply satisfying experience.
