Well 2016 has begun, and like the end of 2015, with much cloud and rain. Poor El Nino is blamed again. We still got out on the first and managed to see a rare duck, the Ring-necked Duck which has been wintering on a loch locally. Over the whole of the UK there may be around ten of them. Unless something seismic happens they will remain until, probably March, when they will disappear. But to where? Unless they are Ring-legged Ducks we will never find out. On occasion a loch get the species winter after winter so it could be the same bird. A Happy New Year to you. |
