With our long light evenings, this is the time of year when an evening excursion can be good. This Roe deer was in a roadside field as we drove by, but didn't want to hang around once we stopped! A walk near the river gave us views of families of ducks, Mallard and Tufted but the adults are now in eclipse, so not as smart. There was a single Great Crested Grebe, but a Little Grebe was with a well grown chick, showing it the ropes. As we drove home a Sparrowhawk got grief from some Crows, till it settled in a tree. |
