The Waxwing invasion continues. They are ever-present in our town and I have seen them most days. They are very uplifting. Quite a few non-birdy people have some notion that they are unusual and special so its good to share the enthusiasm and perhaps kindle a passion whilst talking about how they got to our country.
Other birds are ever-present. Flocks of Long-tailed Tits are quite numerous locally suggesting that they have had a good breeding season. You always here the contact call before looking up and saying "There's one.. and another" as they pass by, feeding. Like the Waxwings they cheer up a winter's day when light is in short supply.
